Tooling Design
Tooling
design and manufacturing is one of Topscom key strengths. By
staffing expert tool designers, skilled tool and die makers, and
precision machinists, we offer customers the best tooling solution in
the industry. We provide prototype and production tooling for both
plastic and metal parts.
Plastic
Injection Mold Design and Fabrication
Topscom designs and fabricates plastic injection molds in
manufacturing casings for all types of plastic products including
printers, PC chassis, PDAs, and wireless devices. Topscom uses the
following advanced CAD software tools:
- MasterCAM
- AutoCAD
- Unigraphics
CAD/CAM
- ProE
- MoldFlow
- Promold
After
the design validation and manufacturing process creation is complete,
the process moves to pre-production where computer instructions
detailing the exact tool paths, tolerance levels, and type of mill
tips and machines are downloaded into the machining center. When the
mold master, milled from graphite or copper blocks, adheres to the
original specifications, the mold and mold base are produced through a
combination of precision milling, grinding, and electro-discharge
machining (EDM). Topscom has experience in working with all types of
tooling materials including aluminum, unhardened and hardened steel
for hand-load and cam action tools.
Sheet
Metal Stamping
Topscom leading position in sheet metal stamping services stem from
award-winning industrial design, precision engineering, integrated
tooling solutions, and cost-effective manufacturing. Our metal
stamping services include:
- Design
and Development
- Prototyping
and New Product Introduction
- Tooling
- Sheet
Metal Stamping and Finishing
Evolutionary
items include no-screw motherboard mounting and one-touch user access
to chassis. Topscom
utilizes stage tooling for low- to medium-volume and progressive die
manufacturing, up to 168 inches long by 72 inches wide, for high
volume sheet metal. By optimizing design, we improve operational
efficiency, speed time to market, and reduce the cost of
manufacturing.
